The Ballinger Education Foundation is a relatively new non-profit organization established to generate and distribute funds to enhance innovative programs to benefit the students and teachers of Ballinger Independent School District. Former students, community members and other benefactors are encouraged to make a cash donations, memorial gifts or other planned giving to this worthy cause. Members of the foundation will be available to encourage participation by speaking at local service organizations, as well as organizing fund raising events that will be unveiled at the Bearcat sporting events. Rodney Flanagan, former superintendent of Ballinger schools and a 1957 graduate, commented that this foundation makes good sense. "Many times graduates of colleges and universities are asked to make donations; so why don't we encourage high school graduates to do the same. The plan is to mail brochures to as many graduates as we can locate. We have a fairly extensive list of addresses provided by Homecoming committees. The school district provides an excellent foundation for students. Our graduates can compete with any in the state. That standard of excellence is attributed to the dedication of all our teachers and staff. I have always been proud to be from Ballinger and I am excited about the opportunities this foundation can provide. For additional information, call Jackie Gibbs at the Ballinger Administration Office or contact Rodney Flanagan, chairman of the foundation. reprinted with the permission of The Ballinger Ledger *******
